Robyn Houston-Bean is the founder of the grief focused nonprofit, The Sun Will Rise Foundation and a peer grief support consultant for SADOD. After the death of her 20 year son Nick in 2015, due to a polysubstance overdose, she quickly realized the power of peer grief support. The Sun Will Rise Foundation and SADOD work together to expand the number of Massachusetts residents receiving this type of support. The Sun Will Rise currently offers multiple monthly in person or zoom peer grief support meetings for people 18 years of age and over. Robyn has been a speaker at a number of conferences and other events and has received numerous commendations from the state of MA and local organizations for her work supporting people bereaved due to substance use.
