Brockton's 2024 Annual Overdose Vigil by Candlelight

Brockton Area’s 2024 Overdose Vigil by Candlelight will be held on Thursday, August 29th at Massasoit Community College in the Quad. Resources will be available starting at 6:00 PM, and the program will begin at 7:00 PM. Each year, the Brockton Area Prevention Collaborative collects photographs from community members across Massachusetts of loved ones who have lost their battle with substance use disorder. These photographs are compiled into a video slideshow in an effort to put a face to this disorder and help eliminate the stigma associated with it. In addition to the video slideshow, the program will feature a multitude of local speakers discussing the impact of substance use disorder on the familial and community level.

If you would like to include a photo of your loved one in this year’s memorial slideshow, email the photo with the person’s full name attached to [email protected] by Thursday, August 15th. The Collaborative asks that the photo be submitted by a family member, the individual in the photo cannot be actively consuming substances, they must be clearly identifiable, and the photo must be of adequate size and quality to be significantly enlarged (screenshots of photographs or prayer cards cannot be enlarged).
